Michelle Morrell
For close to twenty years Michelle Morrell has been selling screen prints, block prints, and paintings in Southeast Alaska. Her favorite subjects are children, animals, and seascapes. Although she was very active in retail sales in Sitka, she has only recently begun to display her work in Juneau.
For the past few
years she has indulged her fascination for ceramics, especially handbuilding
and overglaze. She has gone back to school at the University of Alaska
to get another degree, this time in art, focusing on ceramics and printmaking.
Michelle was born in Washington State and graduated from high school
and college in Western Washington. She met her husband, John, at the
University of Washington and has followed his career with the Forest
Service for 28 years. They have a daughter, Jennifer, who presently
is a scenic artist at Perseverance Theatre in Juneau
